ODLAA Times is published four times a year. This is a print publication, previously available only to members. The newsletter provides keeps members up-to-date on Association activities, reports on Executive activity and related events, gives members an opportunity to reflect on their work, roles and practice, and provides a brief coverage of issues and conferences in open and distance learning which may be of interest to members. Submissions are welcome, although it is best to contact Deborah Veness before posting them off. From the beginning of 2005 this will not be printed but will be available to members as an electronic document through the member-only area of the ODLAA website.

ODLAA Papers has also a print publication, available only to members and formerly to libraries which have subscribed specifically to the ODLAA Times and ODLAA Papers. The purpose, content and continuing value of the ODLAA Papers is currently being reviewed by the Executive. It has traditionally been an occasional papers series published once a year since 1986 (when 3 to 5 papers of quality and relevance to the membership are submitted).

The Papers may include:

  • keynote and other papers from Biennial Forum that were not published in the Proceedings;
  • papers from national workshops;
  • invited papers on a selected theme(s); and
  • at the discretion of the Editor, papers that have already been published.

Criteria for selection of papers

  • Papers are required to meet standards of quality and relevance to the membership as determined by the ODLAA Publications Officer.

  • Papers which address ODLAA themes and issues related to quality in open, flexible and distance learning, education and training are particularly invited.

  • Each edition of the papers will endeavour to include a variety of articles that reflects the diverse membership of ODLAA (ie university, TAFE, school, private training etc).

  • Papers should be about 4000 words in length: shorter papers will be considered

  • Where more than sufficient papers have been received or papers are not to be included for publication, authors will be informed of the circumstances.

  • Where the Publications Officer (or Guest Editor) is in doubt about the
    publishability of a paper, a second viewpoint from the ODLAA Executive will be sought.

Contributions to ODLAA Times and ODLAA Papers are welcomed from members and can be emailed, posted or faxed to:
